“…never gonna give you up, never gonna let you down…”
You could say everyone had big expectations for this wedding, mainly because Chelly and Kyle have fantastic personalities. From the rigged ring box that played Rick Astley when Kyle proposed, to the arguments of when their first kiss occurred and who loved who first, these two are a dynamic pair that light up a room and fill the halls with laughter. They “rolled” with the punches as the rain came down, everyone (including me) teared up during the ceremony, and when the entire room surrounded Chelly and Kyle with a choreographed dance to “Never Gonna Give You Up” I knew I was witnessing something truly epic. There were so many surprises, twists and turns throughout the night, whether it was a sugar high from the massive sweets table or simply the amazing energy buzzing around the room, this was an awesome wedding.

A “game of thrones” inspired garter…

Kyle added a special touch to the groomsmen’s Chuck Taylors.

This little flower girl was stealing the show.

Chelly wasn’t sure if she could trust Kyle to “fix” her veil…

My favorite! (they laugh a lot!)

Time to start the ceremony…

Kyle was in tears right from the get-go.

Mazel Tov!

The bridal party tested the limits of the elevator…

Kyle was happy to ham it up for the camera.

It’s a tradition to make funny faces in their family, and so they did…

Even Grandma was on board!

Chelly and her mom hand-made all of the wedding details.

And the biggest candy buffet ever!

Rick Astley for the first dance? Why not!

Chelly and her dad surprised everyone with an amazing choreographed dance!

Even Kyle and his mom had something up their sleeves.

Time to party!

I love the hora!

And then the craziest thing happened… the ENTIRE room surrounded Chelly and Kyle and rick-rolled them with a special dance!

Cheeseburger! Cheeseburger!

Chelly and Kyle… may you continue to “rick-roll” each other when it’s least expected, and enjoy every surprise that your future holds. Congratulations!

Q&A with the bride and groom:
What was the most memorable moment of your day?
Chelly: During the ceremony Kyle started to tear up. My sister (MoH) goes to pass him a tissue and the Rabbi took it, dried her own eyes, looked at Kyle and goes “oh sorry! was that for you??” It was the perfect amount of humor needed in that moment!
Kyle: Walking into the reception and hearing Chelly be introduced as “Mrs. McKanna” for the first time.

What was your favorite detail?
Chelly: Our custom cake toppers from Etsy- they were painted to look like the two of us, had the Horde symbol on the front and text that wrapped around saying “binds on pickup” and “soulbound”
Kyle: Also, that she accepted my proposal. It’s a small detail but an important one!

Funniest memory from your wedding day?
Chelly: It’s a tie between my sister’s toast, which was HILARIOUS and my 3-year-old ring bearer totally taking over the dance floor after dinner– complete with costume pieces and props stolen from our photobooth.
Kyle: The look on Chelly’s uncle’s face after we cut our cake. I stood in the middle of the dance floor and ate the entire piece. He was the guest sitting closest to where we were standing and he just kept shaking his head and laughing at me. …What? The cake was awesome!

Any advice for future brides/grooms?
Chelly: Take a step back and look at the bigger picture. Don’t get bogged down in the details. it’s so easy to be swept up into the “Perfect Wedding” mentality…. When there were things Kyle wanted that I disagreed with, the best way for me was to ask myself “at the beginning of the planning process, did i REALLY care about ______?” usually the answer was, “no.” One example is the shoes he and the groomsmen were wearing. Blue and white?? I freaked out a little when he said that was what he wanted because it didn’t match the bridesmaids…but then i thought, “when we got engaged, did I REALLY care what color shoes his best man was wearing?” Nope, not at all! And in the end, I loved the way they all looked!
Kyle: Hire a Day-of-Coordinator (PICK SHANNON! PICK SHANNON!). She was truly incredible and made sure everything ran smoothly.

If you could do it all over, would you change anything?
Chelly & Kyle: The original plan was to have an outdoor ceremony but the crazy amounts of rain forced us to move indoors. The room was beautiful and most of our guests had no idea it was our “back-up plan.” Everyone had such a great time, we wouldn’t have changed a thing!

Where did you go on your honeymoon?
Chelly & Kyle: First, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios. Then, a 3-night Bahamian cruise. So much fun, and the Butterbeer was delicious!
