“And now for something completely different.”

There’s certainly nothing wrong with the beauty of Lincoln Park, or wandering the West Loop for creative and colorful backdrops. I could give you a pretty hefty list of Chicago locations for engagement photos that I have loved over the years but… sometimes someone offers up something completely out of the box. And I jump at the chance! I don’t mind a few extra miles for a rare opportunity, especially when the time is spent with amazing people. This engagement session at House on the Rock in Spring Green, WI with Chelsea and Greg was one-of-a-kind. It takes a very special couple to appreciate the beautiful and the strange, a wacky mix of weird and also really cool, I get that this location is not for everyone but I felt like a kid in a candy store. Every time you turned a corner, there was a room containing something more fantastic and mind-boggling. We spent the afternoon exchanging “Wow!”s and “OMG,”s, and “oo, oo, stand over there!” I loved their adventurous spirit, willingness to lean into the weird, and most of all- we had SO MUCH FUN!

They give tours, so I highly recommend visiting if you’re ever in the area. Here’s a bit about House on the Rock from their website:

For over 60 years, the House on the Rock has been a majestic work in progress. It began in 1945, when a man named Alex Jordan had a towering goal: to build a man-made retreat as awe-inspiring as the view from the rock upon which the house would eventually be built. From that spark of imagination, the House on the Rock has evolved to include displays and collections of the exotic, the unusual and the amazing.

Thank you Chelsea and Greg, for a phenomenal session that I will never forget. As for the rest of you, close your eyes and point to the map… let’s plan our next adventure!
