We’re all familiar with the quintessential barn wedding, sometimes with a horse or two grazing in the nearby pasture, and all the cozy rustic vibes. But have you ever seen horses IN the ceremony?? I’m gonna guess your answer, read on and check out these special hooved wedding party members.

Leslie and Gunnar had an incredible wedding day. It started off with Leslie getting ready at her Woodstock, IL home, and Gunnar getting gussied up at The Cherry Tree Inn (of Groundhog Day fame). Next up a beautiful backyard ceremony, including their closest family and friends, both human and equine. The horses were given some extra shine as well as lovely braids and ribbons in their hair, and the rings were even braided into Elliott’s mane- what a ring bearer!

Touching speeches, a first dance under string lights, sunset photos with the bride and groom (and a few horses), bubbles floating on the wind, a cute drink cart (awesome job Lucky Hitch!), coldstone creamery ice cream sandwiches, smoked bbq… these are just a few of the wonderful touches. I truly love when couples incorporate what is important to them, and this day – from location, to guests, to food – was firmly rooted in who Leslie and Gunnar are as a couple and couldn’t have been better.

If there was ever a couple meant to ride off into the sunset, it’s these two. Congrats again Leslie and Gunnar, “Let’s Ride!”

Big thanks to the vendors who helped with the day:
