How could I write a photography blog without giving a shout out to the very thing that makes my profession what it is? Cameras, cameras, cameras! In all shapes and sizes, from film to digital, from $1 to $6000 (or more), I love them all. I still remember my first camera, it was a Minolta from my dad, the very camera that he bought the day they brought me home as a baby from the hospital. It served me well during my high school years (and took some pretty cute baby photos of your truly). I still think on those days of darkrooms and homemade pinhole cameras fondly. I loved all the years spent developing film, working with 35mm, medium format, and large format cameras, and although I have embraced the digital age with open arms, I still love to sling a Holga over my shoulder. Even though most of us are using our cell phones to document our special moments, cameras are still serving a great purpose… giving us the opportunity to show others what life looks like through our eyes. So hats off to cameras, and all the beautiful still images we create with them.
