It doesn’t get much better than this… views of the entire city skyline as you say “I do,” and those you love the most cheering you on. Pretty awesome! Imagine if time had fast forwarded to this moment when they met at the tender age of 15, who knew ?! Some say love is a boomerang, it keeps coming back to you. Their story would be a perfect example, a story of meeting and parting ways several times before they grabbed hold and didn’t let go. And what a day to begin forever! Gorgeous weather and a stunning ceremony+reception at the Adler Planetarium (Five Grain Events and Event Creative outdid themselves!)… a wonderful wedding day for a wonderful couple.
Congratulations Rachel and David!

Q&A with the bride:
What was the most memorable moment of your day?
Rachel: Looking out during the ceremony and seeing all of our guests there for us in such a beautiful setting
What was your favorite detail?
Rachel: The lanterns suspended over the room with the Chicago skyline as a backdrop… Magical!
Funniest memory from your wedding day?
Rachel: So many… Just being silly with our bridesmaids and groomsmen leading up to the wedding
Any advice for future brides/grooms?
Rachel: It sounds trite, but enjoy every minute of the weekend. Take the time to walk around and see how everything came together on your big day. Relax! It’s a really wonderful moment in your life so just enjoy it. If something goes wrong, who cares?! Relish your first day as a married couple and all of the family/friends who came because they love you.
If you could do it all over, would you change anything?
Nope!
Where did you go on your honeymoon?
Rachel: Trinidad and Tobago (in the Caribbean, off the coast of Venezuela) – it’s a wild and amazing place!
Anything else worth mentioning…
We heart Bethany 🙂
A little history…
How did you meet? (How long have you known each other?)
Straight from our wedding website…
We have actually known each other since we were 15. Sophomore English class brought us together as friends and we even went to Northwestern together post-high school. (Go ‘Cats!)
Although we were both still living in Chicago, we lost touch after college and didn’t reconnect until David moved to Colorado, where Rachel had already lived for a year. We wound up realizing we had a stronger connection beyond friendship, but David was placed in Durango for work which complicated the matter.
We again lost touch for a few years, but happily reconnected in the winter of 2011. After a little bit of luck (and perhaps some pleading with the state office), David got a transfer to Denver, where we currently live together with our sweet dog Koda. Nothing makes us happier than a long hike in the woods or a fun ski trip with friends – and we love visitors!
Although we didn’t date for much of the time, we’ve known each other for so long that getting together seemed so natural and perfect – we couldn’t be happier!
When did you know he/she was “the one”?
After we reconnected the second time while David was living in Durango. We both knew this was serious!
Describe the proposal.
We were in Utah/Wyoming at the Flaming Gorge Reservoir for an extended Memorial Day trip. We’d gone a long and somewhat flooded-out hike next to the Green River earlier in the day so were soaked – an important piece of the story. (David even carried me through the water!) We made it back to the car safely and decided to drive along these fairly desolate dirt roads to the actual reservoir. On a remote beach, sitting on the rocky sand with the dog, David proposed and of course the answer was yes! To really top off the story, this all went down while David was wearing a towel around his waist and no pants 🙂
